How it started
DIYblinds™ began as a side project for co-founders Evan Montero and Liam Dobson, who shared a passion for modernising outdated industries. After struggling to get a quote for a small blinds job at his parents’ home, Evan saw an opportunity to make the process simpler, more transparent and more accessible. Together, Evan and Liam built a digital-first solution, and demand was immediate. By 2017, they had left careers in finance to grow DIYblinds™ full-time. Starting with roller blinds, the business quickly expanded into shutters, curtains and a broader range of custom window furnishings. In 2022, they launched HomePro to support Australia’s growing trade market. What started with one frustrating experience became a business built on a simple belief: great design should be accessible to everyone.
