Tools

  • Tape measure (metal is best)
  • Step ladder
  • Cordless drill with a Philips head drill bit
  • 3mm drill bit
  • Pencil
  • For large blinds, it is best to have a second person help hold the blind in position.

Before you get going

Know what you're drilling into?

If you're drilling into wood, follow the steps below.

If you're drilling into plaster, you have two options:

  • Use a stud finder to locate where your wall studs are, then follow the steps below

  • Use a Ramset 10 mm Grip Hollow Wall Anchor, which will help secure your blind to plaster

If you're drilling into concrete, stone, brick or tile, use a Masonry drill and appropriate plugs, anchors or screws. It is important to securely attach the brackets to the mounting surface. To achieve this the included screws must secure into wood studs, otherwise a fastener is required for secure mounting (not included).

Make sure the fastener you purchase is suitable for the weight of the product.

  2. Confirm Installation Items

Ensure you have all the necessary components and tools as specified in the installation guide.

  3. Follow the Instructions Carefully

Adhere to the provided installation steps, particularly those indicating where two people are required for safe handling.

  4. Inspect the Area

Perform a visual inspection of the installation area to identify and mitigate any risks to surrounding surfaces, objects, or structures.

OK it's time to start installing, let's take it step by step

Face fit:

Installing your face fit Roman blind is easy and fun. Follow these 4 steps, then kick back and admire a job well done. Here's how to do it:

1

Get organised

Unpack your custom kit, and lay out your roman blind on a clean floor, under your window.

2
Installing the brackets

A

The brackets are to be fixed with the longer edge to the architrave or wall, spaced evenly. If you have allowed for your blind to be mounted above the architrave, install the bracket 20mm below the height you originally measured to accommodate for the head rail.

B

If possible, mount the first bracket between the control mechanism and the first draw cord for maximum support.

C

Mark if necessary and pre-drill one hole per bracket (use the central hole in the bracket as it will allow for minor adjustments up and down). After drilling holes, secure the brackets with screws (wood screws have been provided).

D

Make sure all brackets are level.

3

Positioning the blind

Take care when lifting the Roman Blinds to ensure that the head rail is fully supported at all times.

Position the blind so it’s sitting evenly on top of the brackets and central to the window.

Whilst holding the head rail in place, start from the central bracket and drill a screw upwards through the bracket directly into the head rail.

Tip: If installing blinds side by side, ensure there is a 10mm gap between the blinds.

4
Make it child safe

A

Fasten the cleats to the wall using the screws provided. Do not use tape or glue.

B

The cord must not form a loop longer than 220mm and should be wound entirely around the cleat.

C

We take Australian child safety laws seriously. The cleats must be installed at least 1600mm above floor level, because a child is capable of unwinding a cord from a cleat. See 'Let's get real about child safety' at the bottom for more info.

Let's get real about child safety.

Children don't understand that a chain wrapped around their neck can tighten and strangle them in just a few minutes if they sit down, roll around or climb down to the floor.

Children have died when the loop went over their head or they got tangled in a loose chain while:

  • sleeping in a cot or bed near to where chains are hanging

  • playing near chains, or

  • standing on a chair, sofa or bed to look out of a window.

You must follow the Australian Government requirements when installing your blind.

  • Install your p clip exactly as per step 5 of this guide

  • Don't remove the warning label that comes attached to your blind

  • Attach your own label with your name and contact details (or the details of whoever is installing your blind for you)
