For a minimal design window furnishing that achieves great levels of light control, roller blinds are an ideal choice. Available in Blockout, Light Filtering and Sunscreen fabrics these blinds are highly versatile and perfect for covering stand-alone windows in rooms such as family living areas.

Make a decision

The first crucial step before measuring your windows is deciding whether you want your blinds to sit on the inside of the window frame as a recess fit, or on the outside of the frame as a face fit, as this will determine where you take your measurements from.

Remember

If you’re unsure, a face fit is your best option if there are obstructions such as window handles which may prevent your blind from closing smoothly in the recess.

Measuring Your Windows - Face Fit

  • Measure the Width

Measure the exact outside width of the architrave in three different positions: across the top, middle and bottom. This will help cater for any anomalies.

Once finished, record the largest measurement.

Note: For Square Set windows (windows without architraves), add at least 50mm to each side to help minimise light leakage.

  • Measure the Drop

Measure the height of the window from the top of the frame to where you’d like the blind to finish. This may be at the bottom of the frame, just above the floor, or to align with other blinds in the same room.

Note: For Square Set windows (windows without architraves), add at least 70mm to help minimise light leakage.

  • Example: Face Fit Blind

The blind will sit on the architrave of the window.

Measuring Your Windows - Recess Fit

Before settling on a recess fit…

Check that you have at least 50mm distance of depth between the window pane and the edge of the frame.

  • Measure the Width

Measure the exact inside width of the window frame in three different positions: across the top, middle and bottom. This will help cater for any anomalies.

Record the smallest measurement to ensure your blind fits in the recess.

  • Measure the Drop

Measure the exact inside height of the window frame. The edge of the blind will sit flush against the bottom of the frame.

  • Example: Recess Fit Blind

The blind will sit in the recess of the window.
