Welcome to our simple guide to setting up voice control with your Alexa device and your Somfy Connexoon Hub and smart phone app. You're going to love just how effortless it is using your voice to control your motorised blinds and curtains.

Before you get going

OK it's time to start setting up, let's take it step by step.

Programming Alexa so you can control your blinds and curtains with your voice is easy. Follow these 7 steps, then kick back and admire a job well done. Here's how to do it:

1 Get organised

  • 1 A alexa setup A

    Make sure you've set up your Hub, added your blinds or curtains and customised your scenarios or ambiances. Also make sure you've installed Alexa and downloaded the Amazon Alexa app.

  • 1 B alexa setup B

    On your phone download the IFTTT app using the App Store or Google Play.

  • 1 C alexa setup C

    On your phone open the IFTTT app and sign up to create an account.

2 Connect your Hub to IFTTT

  • 2 A alexa setup A

    In the IFTTT app home screen tap Get more then type Connexoon in the search bar.

  • 2 B alexa setup B

    Tap the Connexoon Asia & Oceania option and then tap the Connect button.

  • 2 C alexa setup C

    In the IFTTT app sign in using your Somfy Connexoon Window RTS login.

    Tap YES to authorise IFTTT to access your Somfy account and connect to your Hub. Tap the back arrow to return to the search screen in IFTTT.

3 Connect your Alexa to IFTTT

    In the IFTTT app search screen type Amazon Alexa in the search bar and tap the Amazon Alexa option.

    If you have already connected Alexa to IFTTT, skip to step 4.

  • 3 B alexa setup B

    Tap the Connect button.

    Can’t connect to Alexa? If you can't see a connect button, head to I need some extra help at the bottom of this page.

  • 3 C alexa setup C

    In the IFTTT app sign in using your Amazon login.

    Tap Allow to authorise IFTTT to access your Amazon account and Alexa information. Tap the back arrow to return to the search screen in IFTTT.

4 Start setting up your first voice command

  • 4 A alexa setup A

    Set up your first Alexa voice command in IFTTT so you can use voice control to open or close your blinds and curtains based on a scenario or ambiance you've set up in your Hub.

    In the IFTTT app home screen tap Get more then type Connexoon in the search bar.

  • 4 B alexa setup B

    Tap the Connexoon Asia & Oceania option. Scroll down to the applet called Ask Amazon Alexa to launch your Connexoon scenario and tap it.

  • 4 C alexa setup C

    Tap Connect using the slider button.

5 Finish setting up your first voice command

  • 5 A alexa setup A

    Type in the words you want to launch the scenario using only lower case letters (no capitals) e.g. sun protection mode. Don't worry about typing Alexa trigger as it's added automatically to the start of your voice command.

  • 5 B alexa setup B

    Choose your scenario from the drop down list e.g. Window_RTS - mode: Sun protection, then at the bottom tap Save.

    The slider button on your applet will now show as Connected.

  • 5 C alexa setup C

    You're all done setting up your first voice command! Now when you say your command e.g. Alexa trigger sun protection mode your blinds and curtains will respond (e.g. close) according to your scenario in your Hub.

6 Set up more voice commands - create an Alexa trigger

  • 6 A alexa setup A

    Set up new Alexa voice commands by creating new applets in IFTTT so you can control your blinds and curtains with your voice.

    In the IFTTT app home screen tap Create. Tap the plus symbol (+) next to the word This and tap the Amazon Alexa option.

  • 6 B alexa setup B

    Scroll down the list of Alexa triggers and tap the option Say a specific phrase.

  • 6 C alexa setup C

    Type in the words you want to launch the scenario using only lower case letters (no capitals) e.g. privacy mode. Don't worry about typing Alexa trigger as it's added automatically to the start of your voice command.

    Tap the Create trigger button.


7 Set up more voice commands - choose your Connexoon scenario

  • 7 A alexa setup A

    In the IFTTT app tap the plus symbol (+) next to the word That.

    Type Connexoon in the search bar and then tap the Connexoon Asia & Oceania option. Tap the button Launch a Connexoon scenario.

  • 7 B alexa setup B

    Choose your scenario from the drop down list e.g. Window_RTS - mode: Privacy then at the bottom tap Create action. Tap Finish to save your new voice command.

  • 7 C alexa setup C

    You're all done setting up your new voice command! Now when you say your command e.g. Alexa trigger privacy mode your blinds will respond (e.g. close) according to how you customised the scenario in your Hub.

    Create as many new voice commands as you like using steps 6 and 7. Remember you can also search Alexa Connexoon in IFTTT to find existing applets and set them up, the same way you set up your first voice command (steps 4 and 5).
